Here's a fun game for pasty white westerners like me who have not yet been exposed to the world of Japanese xenophobia: Guess which ethnic group this adorable cat is supposed to be an offensive caricature of, and don't read the next paragraph until you've come up with an answer.
Are you ready? Go!
Nida (ニダー) is a character derived from Mona who is a stereotype of Koreans. (Although, Nida likes to claim that it is actually Mona who is a parody of him.) He says "Nida" (~니다) after every sentence.
Because of 2channel's anti-Korean xenophobia, Nida is a short-tempered and foolish character who plots against Japan. However, in longer AA stories, Nida is sometimes portrayed as friendly (albeit mischevious). It's not uncommon for 2ch users to say "I hate Koreans in real life, but I really like Nida".

The only thing Nida loves more than eating kimchi and playing Starcraft (his two obligatory interests as a Korean stereotype) is "apology juice". But what is this delicious beverage? There's actually an interesting story behind that.
In 2000, a Japanese history textbook called the New History Textbook was published. The textbook, which was published by right-wing scholars, whitewashed Japan's various war crimes against Korea. In 2001, the Ministry of Education approved this textbook. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
Because of this, a lot of protests and demonstrations were held. One politician held a sign saying, "Nihon wa Hanseishi" (日本は反省し) meaning, "Japan, Apologise"! Well, that's what it was supposed to say. The sign was mispelled, so what it actually said was "Nihon wa Hanseishiru" (日本は反省しる) or "Japan, Apolojuice"! Therefore, Koreans demanding reparations for Japanese war crimes are portrayed as demanding delicious apology juice from Japan.
Great, now I want to drink some juice.
